Hot springs the way they were meant to be.

Termas Valle de Colina sits at the end of a rugged 4x4 track deep inside the Cajón del Maipo, framed by peaks that push past 5,000 m. The pools — ranging from refreshing to scalding — are fed by geothermal springs heated by the San José volcano, one of Chile's most active stratovolcanoes. Maximum 4 guests per vehicle. No buses, no crowds.

The milky turquoise color comes from dissolved minerals — sulfur, calcium, magnesium — the same geochemistry that has drawn bathers to this valley for centuries. The surrounding landscape is raw Andean terrain: no resort infrastructure, no jets, no towel service. Just rock, water, altitude, and one of the most extraordinary backdrops on the continent.

Canyon. Pools. Asado.

A full day built around one of Chile's most dramatic Andean landscapes.

4×4 Deep into the Cajón — Waterfall Stop

Tall waterfall cascading down volcanic rock walls in Cajón del Maipo Aerial view of the thermal pool complex nestled in the Andes valley Thermal pools with a sharp volcanic peak rising steeply in the background

Hotel pickup at 9:00 AM and straight into one of Chile's most dramatic canyons. The Cajón del Maipo follows the Maipo River east into the Andes — walls rising on both sides as Santiago drops away behind you. Your guide covers the geology: this is active volcanic terrain, shaped by eruptions, glaciers and millennia of river erosion. Before the unpaved 4x4 track begins, the route stops at a viewpoint waterfall — a thin white thread of water dropping hundreds of meters down a sheer volcanic face. Two and a half hours in, the valley opens and the steaming pools come into view against the peaks.

"Maximum 4 guests per vehicle — you won't share your 4x4 with strangers."

Termas Valle de Colina — Soak

The pools range from 25°C to 55°C — geothermally heated by the San José volcano and milky turquoise from dissolved sulfur and calcium. Spend 90 minutes moving between pools at your own pace, alternating temperatures with the cold Andean air. The setting is as raw as it gets: no tile, no parasols, no chlorine — just volcanic rock, mineral water, and a 360° wall of mountains at over 2,500 metres above sea level.

"Low difficulty — suitable for all ages. Bring a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen."

Andean Asado & Casa de Chocolate

After the thermal soak, the group gathers in the heart of the Cordillera for a traditional Chilean asado — fire-grilled meat, salads and bread served in the open air at altitude, surrounded by Andean peaks on every side. Vegetarian option available on request. On the descent, one last stop at Casa de Chocolate: a storybook wooden house in the valley where a local family crafts some of the finest bonbons and single-origin chocolates in the region. Choose an ice cream, a bonbon flight, or a bar to take home. Back to your hotel by 5:30 PM.

"The building looks like it was built by a pastry chef who also read too many fairy tales. The chocolate is serious."

Everything taken care of.
